It has been so. incredibly. hot. in Washington lately. A trip to the beach was a very much-needed getaway from everything going on in life. I don’t know what it is, but I just find sitting and staring at the ocean to be one of the most relaxing things in life. Worries washing out with the waves. So, to the ocean we went. Destination: Cape Disappointment, Washington.
Cape Disappointment, despite the name, is anything but disappointing. It is an incredibly gorgeous little area barely south of Long Beach, Washington, with beaches both sandy and rocky, hidden coves, and two lighthouses. We stumbled upon (well, I quite literally slid right into) Dead Man’s Cove, where we ate lunch and my friend Ashley found a piece of driftwood shaped like a triceratops skull. I included a picture of her showing off her great find. Cape Disappointment has lots of beaches to enjoy, and I love all the driftwood structures people have put together on the beaches. It’s also lush and green with plenty of trees and plants, including wild cucumbers! The scenery here shows off exactly why I love Washington so much.
