The Pacific Northwest was blessed with some beautiful January snow yesterday. Despite being sick, I put on my furry-hooded jacket, gloves, and boots, and trekked around outside my house to capture some pictures. It’s been a couple years since we’ve had any snow that stuck (at least where I live), and I didn’t want to miss out!

Thankfully, I don’t have to work until Wednesday, and by then the roads should be all cleared up. Otherwise, I’d probably be panicking a little. When I was in high school, my parents never wanted me to drive in the snow, so a snow day for me meant a day off. Unfortunately, this means that as an adult, I’ve never learned how to properly drive in the snow. In Washington, it doesn’t snow very often, so this usually isn’t a big deal….. but two winters ago, I was driving up a steep hill to get to my boyfriend, Jensen’s house, and I got stuck! Tires spinning, snow flying everywhere. I was quite embarrassed. Jensen had to come rescue me and get my car un-stuck, but not before three different people stopped to ask if I was okay. Embarrassing, but at least people are nice.

My orange kitty, Bandit, has never seen snow before, so since yesterday morning he has spent a lot of time staring out the window. I love watching his head move as he follows the falling snow. He is just the funniest, strangest cat.

I hope you’re all having a wonderful (or at least tolerable) beginning to the first full week of the year!
