We finally planted our garden a few weekends ago!
Planting our garden makes it officially spring, to me: the rain gets to fulfill its purpose in making our plants healthy and happy, the sun encourages them to grow taller, and the days getting longer give them more time to soak in the sun and sprout up.
Our lettuce has already begun to peek its little heads out of the ground, just 2 weeks after planting it. It’s been great weather for growing: several days of beautiful sunshine followed by a couple days of heavy rain, nourishing our little plants the way they need to be nourished.
We learned so much with our first garden last year: what to plant, what grows well, where to plant it, how much, watering, feeding, fertilizing… it wasn’t as successful as we had hoped, but it gave us all the tools we need for a beautiful bounty this summer. I can’t wait to be drowning in cherry tomatoes and snap peas, fresh lettuce and gorgeous rainbow carrots. Gardening is so satisfying when you’re a veggie-freak like I am: all natural, healthy, beautiful veggies I grew myself. They taste better, but it’s also just so much more satisfying when you know it was the hard work you put in that allows you to eat these delightful treats.
We planted several starts, but more seeds, so I’ll be sure to share more photos when everything starts coming up. Pictures of dirt are only so exciting 😉
