Hellloooo and happy Monday!
This weekend J and I went camping with some of his family at Takhlakh Lake, Washington (Pronounced Tack-lack, in case those crazy h’s threw you off). I was a little worried when it was pouring down rain all day Friday while I was running errands, but it ended up being perfect weather for us while we were at the Lake. We drove about 4 hours out into the woods with no cell phone service, insanely bumpy, unpaved roads (thank God J was driving, I don’t think we would have made it otherwise!), and of course, beautiful Pacific Northwest views. Takhlakh Lake is 7 miles from Mount Adams, so on a clear day, you get a perfect view of the snow-peaked mountain reflecting over the lake. We waited all day for the clouds to clear up and finally, a few hours before sunset, almost all the clouds shifted and Mount Adams could be seen perfectly.
We had a really great time aside from the fact that we were getting absolutely destroyed by mosquitoes! Those nasty little bugs were alllll over us. Everything I took with me now smells like citrus spice from covering myself head to toe in bug spray. They still got me, somehow. At one point, coming back from a walk, I found J wrapped in a crazy human cocoon and only his eyes were peeking out. Even his hands were wrapped up in latex gloves to keep the bugs out. (Why did I forget to take a picture of that???)
My bites are so so bad. So swollen. So if I don’t post again, I must have caught the Zika virus. That didn’t happen, right??
ANYWAY, let’s move on before the hypochondria kicks in and I start actually thinking I have the Zika. This camping trip was just what I needed – a digital detox, quality time with my boo, good food, good company, good wine 😉 We’re ready to go camping again next weekend!
